I have been told for over 50 years by dad, grandad etc, that we were a descendant of Roger Williams of RI. Howwever after 10 yrs of research I have been unable to proceed further back than " Samuel Livingston Williams, b. May 12, 1784 in PA. Does anyone know of any of Rogers descendants immigrating to the Wilkes-Barre area of Pa around this time ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You
    Sam Williams

    Sam,

I have dug and dug and could not find anything on Samuel with the information that I have. I'll keep looking. When I had trouble finding my connection, I turned to my library's access to heritagequest.com (free with your library card # and possibly online via your library's website). I searched for the surname, plus the town name (in my case Cincinnatus, NY) and found a book that had a real story on Eber Williams and his son Daniel B. Williams, descendants of Roger Williams. It was a quaint little story on how Daniel travelled to deliver butter for hundreds of miles with his horse and wagon. It confirmed for me my connection to Roger. I was ecstatic because I too was searching for so many years.

So, sometimes you can bounce into something unexpected when you're not even expecting to find anything at all. Even if it seems like a stretch, go for it, you might get lucky.

I wish you the best of luck. And if you come up with any more clues, please share, more information might help me find something for you.
